Encounter 2

The final week of Encounter 2 curated by Roham Shiraz exhibits the works of Hooman Khosravi at AG gallery titled as “The valley is the gap between the mountains, especially where the river flows.”

In the statement artist refers to a melancholy caused by division that parts the lives of people in two halves of their past and after; women who have spent their youth in that era before and after revolution.

Choosing a photo from people’s personal archive – from around 40 years ago – and studying them, Khosravi has took new photos inspired by those images and by displaying the two images beside each other makes you compare the current and past situation.

By the physical pose of the subjects, where their warrior’s eyes have become penetrating but weak, you search for a story. The trauma and bewilderment of artist’s subjects in two images is as a vast valley between two histories and era, with thousands of lost dreams.
